The Greater Richmond area continues to be a welcoming community for settling refugees. CWS Richmond has established several partnerships with local agencies and faith organizations that provide excellent support and services to our refugee clients. CWS Richmond has a strong relationship with Commonwealth Catholic Charities (CCC) which operates English Language Training classes. All CWS clients are referred to CCC for this service. Additionally, CWS partners with a local YMCA which provides special memberships for refugees, has a volunteer tutoring program for refugee elementary students, organized sports and more.
Critical to the support of CWS Richmond are the partnerships that we have established with various churches in the area. These churches provide in-kind donations from furniture, household items, school backpacks and supplies, clothing, monetary contributions to Christmas gifts and more. They provide various volunteer services and even teach supplemental English to many refugee clients.
CWS Richmond also participates in a regional Refugee Dialogue Council comprised of community leaders from various public and private organizations and businesses.
